The shipwreck became an attraction after the showing of the movie The Big Blue in 1988 because some scenes were shot there. The Cypriot-flagged Olympia was shipwrecked in February 1980, when during heavy seas it tried to find shelter in the bay of Kato Meria. To this day it remains there and creates an eerie atmosphere.
Aegiali bay is an astonishing area with three small, picturesque villages situated right on the edges of high, breath-taking hills and numerous walking paths full of local herbs and spectacular views of the Aegean.
